Child Health Surveillance Doctor

Dr Sally Reynolds MB ChB - Qualified 1972 Bristol (female) is employed by the partnership to be present for consultation at the baby clinics.

Drs Hughes, Brace, Taylor and Singer are also Child Health doctors.

GP Registrar

This is a fully qualified doctor who is gaining experience in general practice. You may be offered an appointment with this doctor who is with us for up to one year.

Practice Manager And Receptionists

Peter Abery, the practice manager, and all the staff are here to help you. Please give them time to assist you. Their job is important and difficult in ensuring the smooth running of the practice and keeping both doctors and patients happy.

All staff attend training courses for medical receptionists. They are available from 8.30am until 6.30pm Monday to Friday to help with appointments, receiving specimens and giving test results to patients.

Nurse Practitioners And Practice Nurses

Practice nurses are involved in the management of chronic disease eg diabetes, hypertension, asthma. They offer advice on travel requirements, diet, weight and how to stop smoking. They carry out cervical smears, cardiac screening and health checks. They also attend to dressings, minor casualties and assist in minor surgery in the treatment room.

We have a phlebotomist who takes blood samples.

Community Nurses

Community nurses are based at Abingdon Community Hospital providing advice and nursing care to people in their homes.

Messages may be left for them on 01235 205790 between 8.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday. There is also an answerphone that messages can be left on.

At weekends, they can be contacted through the out-of-hours service.

Health Visitors

Health visitors are community nurses working alongside GPs with a special focus on family health, child development and infant nutrition.

They run parentcraft and child health clinics and may also visit at home by appointment.They can be contacted on 0844 477 3322 between 9.00am and 4.30pm, weekdays only. The surgery actively supports breast-feeding and has strong links with the Baby Café which offers this support.

Midwives

Midwives are attached to the surgery and based at Abingdon Hospital. They help with antenatal and postnatal care both in the surgery and in the patient’s home. Contact them on 01235 205732.

Counsellor

We have the services of a trained counsellor available to our patients on their doctor’s recommendation.
